Astro Arugula smells like cutting a handful of leaves at sunrise — sharp, peppery, and faintly nutty, with the cool green bite of a salad eaten outside in early spring. It's a brighter, more unexpected scent than most candles dare to be, captured in 7 ounces of hand-poured soy wax.
 
Inside the box, you'll find the candle, a matchbook of wooden matches to light it, and a second matchbook tucked alongside — filled with arugula seeds. When the wax is gone, wash the jar, fill it with soil, and plant what you smelled. The candle becomes a vessel. The scent becomes a plant.
 
Astro is one of the fastest-growing varieties of arugula, sown directly into soil, it reaches a harvestable size in about four weeks. By the time you've burned through one candle, you could be cutting your first leaves from the jar it came in.

Burn · Plant · Grow Trim the wick to a quarter-inch before each light. Burn in four-hour stretches. When the candle is finished, wash the jar with warm soapy water, remove the wick tab, fill with potting soil, and sow seeds a quarter-inch deep — about 8-10 seeds per jar. Place in a sunny window or outdoors in cooler weather. Arugula germinates in 5-7 days and is ready to harvest in roughly 4 weeks. Cut leaves as needed and they will continue to grow back.
